The Andhra Pradesh government has reportedly finalised reservations for mayor posts in 17 municipal corporations ahead of the upcoming local body elections. The reservation process will determine which categories can contest the mayoral posts in major cities across the state.
According to the reported details, Municipal Administration Department Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar has issued orders concerning the reservations. Of the 17 mayor posts, five are allotted to Backward Classes (BCs), two to Scheduled Castes (SCs) and one to Scheduled Tribes (STs).
Five mayor posts fall under the General Women category, while four remain unreserved. The list covers major cities, including Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Tirupati and Rajamahendravaram. These allocations will influence candidate selection for the upcoming municipal corporation elections.
Mangalagiri-Tadepalli has been allotted the ST reservation, while Rajamahendravaram and Kurnool fall under the SC category. Machilipatnam and Kakinada are reserved for BC Women. Eluru, Anantapur and Chittoor have been placed under BC General.
Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Guntur, Kadapa and Visakhapatnam have been allotted General Women reservations. Meanwhile, the mayor posts in Tirupati, Vijayawada, Ongole and Nellore remain unreserved. The allocations cover all 17 municipal corporations included in the reported list.
The corporation-wise AP mayor reservation list is given below.
| Municipal Corporation | Mayor Reservation |

The reservations will play an important role in how political parties prepare for the municipal elections. Parties will have to select eligible candidates according to the reservation category assigned to each corporation, making the list relevant to their election preparations.
The government has also approved a revised reservation framework for urban local bodies. However, the exact corporation-wise allocations provided above could not be independently matched against the latest official gazette notification. The list should therefore be treated as reported until confirmed through that notification.
