AP MPTC, ZPTC Elections Rescheduled to November 5

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (AP SEC) has revised the schedule for the MPTC and ZPTC elections. The polling, repolling and counting dates have been changed to avoid a clash with the municipal election process and ensure smooth conduct of the polls.

According to the revised schedule, MPTC and ZPTC elections will be held on November 5, 2026. Repolling, if required, will take place on November 6. The counting of votes is scheduled for November 7.

The earlier schedule had fixed November 3 for polling and November 5 for counting. However, the municipal election counting process is also scheduled for November 3. The SEC decided to revise the dates to avoid administrative complications and ensure the effective deployment of election personnel.

The commission noted that conducting municipal vote counting and MPTC and ZPTC polling on the same day could lead to a shortage of police personnel and polling staff. The revised schedule is intended to prevent such difficulties and ensure that both election processes proceed without disruption.

Under the new timetable, polling for the MPTC and ZPTC elections will take place from 7 AM to 5 PM on November 5. If repolling becomes necessary, it will be conducted during the same hours on November 6. Vote counting will begin at 8 AM on November 7, followed by the announcement of results.

The SEC stated that the changes would help officials manage personnel and other election-related arrangements more efficiently. It has also directed district collectors and district election officers to publicise the revised schedule widely to ensure that voters and political parties are informed of the changes.

With the new dates in place, election officials are expected to coordinate their preparations to ensure the smooth and orderly completion of the MPTC and ZPTC elections across Andhra Pradesh.
