Hindupur MLA and chairman of Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Institute & Research Center, Nandamuri Balakrishna, has laid the foundation for a ₹750 crore cancer care campus in Amaravati. The foundation puja was performed near Tulluru on a 21-acre site.
The Amaravati Cancer Care Campus will feature advanced treatment facilities, dedicated research programmes, and a Centre of Excellence for patient care. In its first phase, 500 beds will be available at the Basavatarakam Hospital, Amaravati, with the latest technology and infrastructure.
This major Amaravati project aims to focus on cancer prevention, early detection, and an integrated care model. Surgeries are scheduled to begin by 2028. The second phase will expand capacity to 1000 beds to meet increasing oncology needs.
The facility will also host specialised departments and a research centre to handle complex and rare cancer cases. It is designed to become a regional referral hub for oncology, serving patients across Andhra Pradesh and nearby states.
The Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad has been a leader in cancer care for decades. Recognised among India’s top oncology centres, it is widely considered the second-best cancer hospital in the country.
