BRS working president KTR filed a defamation case against Bandi Sanjay over alleged false claims in the phone tapping case. After all the political noise, the Telangana government appeared to let the issue fade.
Bandi Sanjay, however, kept targeting KTR. Refusing to stay silent, KTR filed a defamation suit and gave him time to apologise.
Bandi Sanjay, who is a Union Minister of State for Home, did not respond. On Monday, the case was heard and the Court issued summons asking him to appear on December 15.
In August, KTR demanded a public apology and a compensation of Rs 10 crore.
Bandi Sanjay had accused KTR of misusing the Special Investigation Bureau and tapping the phones of politicians, High Court judges, Revanth Reddy and even K Chandrasekhara Rao’s family. He also alleged that KTR listened to conversations of spouses and justified it by linking them to Maoists.
KTR strongly denied these allegations. Bandi Sanjay’s comments were widely circulated in the media and on social media, sparking heated political debates.
