Karne Shireesha, also known as Barrelakka, is running against RS Praveen Kumar in Nagarkurnool in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
She’s known for contesting in the Kollapur constituency in the last assembly polls and gaining attention when a video of her questioning the government about unemployment while tending to buffaloes went viral.
Now, she’s running independently for the Lok Sabha seat in Nagarkurnool. Her opponents include Mallu Ravi from Congress, RS Praveen Kumar from Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and Pothuganti Bharat Prasad from BJP.
Shireesha, from Marikal village in Nagarkurnool, is a BCom graduate and a cattle herder. She aims to prove that ordinary people can win elections without resorting to bribery or violence.
Despite facing pressure to withdraw from the race, including offers of money and a house, she remains determined to represent the unemployed youth of Telangana.
During her last campaign, she received financial support from individuals like Malladi Krishna Rao and received campaign assistance from former IPS officer VV Lakshmi Narayana.
Despite not winning, she received significant support and attention from the public.
