Bhimavaram is a reasonably strong seat for TDP. Since its inception, the party won the constituency six times out of the ten elections held. Pawan Kalyan choosing to contest from here changed the demographics for TDP.
Pulaparthi Ramajaneyulu was TDP’s candidate in 2019. He was a two-time MLA by then. But to help Pawan Kalyan here, TDP neutralized its candidate, Ramanjaneyulu, despite being a strong candidate did not put in an effort and as a result, TDP moved to the third spot.
But unfortunately, YSR Congress’s candidate, Grandhi Srinivas won from here.
Even after 2019, TDP is not taking this seat seriously anticipating that Pawan Kalyan will seek the seat once again as a part of the alliance.
Chandrababu Naidu did not concentrate on Group politics here. Along with Pulaparthi Ramajaneyulu, there are two more aspirants. With the Chief not giving clarity about the ticket, the party was mostly inactive.
Kotikalapudi Govindarao is the Janasena incharge here. He is interested in contesting if Pawan Kalyan will not be in the fray. The huge presence of the Kapu population keeps Janasena interested here.
For this reason, all the parties are fielding Kapu candidates. Christian conversions are also on the rise in Bhimavaram and that is giving an edge to the YSR Congress.
