But then, the experts say the approach being taken up by the teams itself is faulty.

They did not take the help of a Geologist and it made the operation tough as blades of the earth-movers and bulldozers met with granite boulders when they tried to dig a parallel so that they could tunnel the 14-month-old out.

The Army is better equipped to handle such operations but the government did not press them. This is the third such incident which happened in Telangana itself after 2014. The government only speaks of taking stern action on those who keep the borewells unused but they remained only on paper.

Farming in Telangana is mostly dependent on Borewells which is a very costly affair. Also, borewells are so uncertain that many of them fail to draw water and many become redundant after some days of use. Farmers who incur big money on digging borewells think investing on closing them is another waste. Such incidents lead to fatal accidents like this.
