With the Jubilee Hills by-election scheduled for November 11, political tensions are rising. BRS has fielded Maganti Sunitha, wife of the late Maganti Gopinath, hoping to win on sympathy, while Congress has nominated Naveen Yadav. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is determined to secure this win to reinforce his political dominance.
However, the BRS has once again raised concerns about “symbol confusion.” Party leaders claim that symbols resembling their car symbol, such as the chapati roller, soap dish, camera, road roller, and ship, are splitting their votes and leading to losses. They have long demanded the Election Commission remove these symbols from the free symbol list.
This time, the argument seems weak. Jubilee Hills is a high-literacy constituency, and the EVM already displays both the candidate’s name and photograph, leaving little room for confusion. Congress supporters are now mocking BRS, saying the party is setting up excuses in advance in case of another defeat.
