Comptroller Audit General of India has reported that the double-bedroom housing conceptualized by ex-CM KCR is a big flop and it had several irregularities associated with it.
As per the CAG audit, the loan amounts that were taken in the name of the double-bedroom housing program were kept idle for a while before being diverted for other uses. Subsequently, Telangana State Housing Corporation Limited (TSHCL) had to repay other loans not related to the double bedroom Housing Scheme.
Statistically speaking, out of the 1 lakh houses that were planned to be built in the GHMC area, 48,178 houses were completed 45,735 houses were in progress while 6,087 houses were stalled or not commenced at all.
The vision and the motive of the program was to provide 2 BHK housing for the eligible families and that hasn’t been met by the program despite the extended timeframe.
This comes right after the CAG audit earlier claimed that the Kaleshwaram project was also a huge debacle, laced with irregularities.
