The bifurcation had triggered one more issue. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao has declared that his government can not afford to reimburse the fees of all the students studying in Telangana which will cost approximately 2500 Crores per year. KCR has announced that he may reimburse the fees of only those students who belong to Telangana.
This decision may hang air the future of several students who come from Andhra and study in Hyderabad as they will belong to neither of the states. There is also a confusion regarding what will happen to that of Settlers in the region. KCR is planning to take up this issue in the all party meeting and will implement the idea from this academic year as well if they agrees.
If the 39,000 students of AP studying in Telangana, the AP government has to reimburse `126 crore for 2014-15 academic year. The Telangana government has to reimburse around `34 crore for 2014-15 for its students studying in AP. So Telangana government may put forth the idea of fee reimursement based on nativity. If this situation arise, Chandra Babu’s government may be forced to fund the fees of the Andhra students which will further be a burden to the already struggling treasury there.
