As the upcoming elections draw near, all political parties are expressing confidence in their victory. While the ruling party aims to secure 175 seats, opposition parties like TDP and Janasena are focused on defeating the incumbent Jagan-led government. However, TDP appears to be facing challenges in some constituencies, including Nuzividu in NTR district.
Over the past decade, TDP has struggled to identify a suitable candidate for the Nuzividu constituency. Venkateswara Rao, who has been in charge of TDP in Nuzividu, has faced consecutive losses in the 2014 and 2019 elections. Critics attribute these losses to his perceived lack of local leadership. Many within the cadre are calling for a change of candidate in the upcoming election. Currently, Meka Venkata Pratap Apparao represents Nuzividu as an MLA, having won three times from the constituency.
TDP activists are advocating for a more assertive candidate against the ruling party. Alongside Muddaraboina Venkateswara Rao, a notable local businessman named Parvataneni Gangadhar is also vying for the TDP ticket in Nuzividu. Internal conflicts and factionalism within the party have become significant concerns, impacting TDP’s prospects.
There are concerns that infighting and financial matters could potentially hamper the party’s chances in the constituency. TDP cadre members are expressing apprehension that if the party doesn’t take effective measures, the YSRCP candidate might secure victory in Nuzividu once again. Observers are keen to see how TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu will address the challenges surrounding the Nuzividu constituency issue.
