Andhra Pradesh and Telangana want a three-year extension of APRA’s section 108 to resolve inter-state issues. AP is particularly keen on having the extension to resolve the issue of sharing of assets falling under Schedule 9 and 10 of the reorganization Act.

Union Home Ministry refused to do that and said it can be done only if AP Reorganization Act is amended by the Parliament. Section 108 allows the President of India to interfere in case of any anomalies in the act. With several key issues unresolved, the Section 108 becomes crucial.
Earlier former President, Pranab Mukherjee earlier used the Section to include seven mandals of Khammam district with Andhra Pradesh for the sake of construction of Polavaram project and to rectify the errors regarding the number of MLC seats.
