Union Government has promised Two 1000 MW Solar Projects – One each to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. Andhra Pradesh government has allocated land for this project and it has started production as well.

But then, Telangana government is still struggling to identify land for this project. The 1000-MW solar power project required 5000 acres and cost Rs 4000 crore investment. Nizamabad, Adilabad, and Mahabubnagar were the probable places to set up the project.
The first two districts did not have so much of land to accommodate the project. 5000 acres of land had been identified Mahbubnagar district, but it was assigned land. Sources said the Centre did not want the assigned land. So, the fate of the project hangs in balance.
