Center Promises Permanent Legal Status For Amaravati

Amaravati permanent capital legal assurance

The Narendra Modi government has assured the Andhra Pradesh government of permanent legal protection to ensure Amaravati remains the capital. Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that the legal backing will be effective from 2024, preventing any future shift.

Discussions have already taken place with the Attorney General to finalise the legal framework. With this progress, Amaravati is expected to get its own pincode, STD, and ISD codes in the near future.

Steps are also underway to establish Central government institutions allotted to Amaravati under the States Reorganisation Act. These measures are aimed at strengthening the city’s administrative identity and long term stability.

Work on the Postal Department’s central office is expected to begin within three months. At the same time, issues related to capital region farmers are being resolved in a phased manner, keeping their concerns and satisfaction in focus.

The Chandrababu government is also concentrating on attracting private organisations to improve population density. CM Chandrababu Naidu is holding discussions with IT companies to encourage investments in Amaravati.

Meanwhile, the Central government is preparing to introduce a Bill in Parliament to formally declare Amaravati as the permanent capital. This move is expected to provide strong legal sanctity to the capital.

These latest developments are likely to ensure clearer authority, improved funding, and faster development activities in Amaravati. The combined efforts of the Centre and the state aim to secure the city’s future firmly.
