Will Idupulapaya Become Capital, CBN Fires on Jagan

Chandrababu and Jagan capital controversy

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu reacted sharply to comments made by YSRCP chief Jagan, who claimed that the capital is wherever the Chief Minister sits. The remarks were made during Jagan’s interaction with national media on Thursday, triggering strong political reactions.

Chandrababu Naidu said no sensible politician would make such statements. He pointed out that Jagan earlier spoke about three capitals, despite being told that no country follows such a system. He questioned whether Idupulapaya would become the capital if Jagan sat there.

Continuing his attack, Chandrababu Naidu asked whether Bengaluru would turn into the capital if Jagan chose to sit there. He accused Jagan of deliberately spreading a negative narrative against Amaravati and said such comments lacked basic political sense.

Chandrababu Naidu also countered claims about Amaravati’s location near a river. He questioned the logic by citing cities like Chennai, Mumbai, and Delhi, all of which are located near water bodies. He said politics cannot function without common sense.

On Thursday, Jagan held a press conference in Tadepalli and later spoke to the media. He stated that the Constitution does not mention a capital and repeated that the capital is where the CM is. He also claimed Amaravati faces flood threats due to its river-side location.
