CM Chandrababu Naidu met Anantapur Urban MLA Daggubati Venkateswara Prasad on Wednesday. Reports suggest that the TDP chief expressed anger over Prasad’s unnecessary remarks that created controversy across Andhra Pradesh. The incident has quickly grown into a sensitive political matter.
An audio clip of a phone call allegedly featuring Daggubati insulting NTR Jr has gone viral. In the recording, Venkateswara Prasad is heard discussing stalling the release of the NTR-starrer War 2 in Anantapur. The leak triggered protests and the tearing of Prasad’s flexis by NTR fans.
The situation in Anantapur turned tense as fans demanded a public apology. However, the MLA has denied making such statements and claimed it was a conspiracy. He alleged that the audio was leaked by rivals unhappy with his influence in the party.
Prasad also lodged a complaint with the Anantapur Superintendent. But CM Chandrababu has strongly objected to the controversy. With the issue spreading in both Telugu states, party leaders fear it has left an unwanted black mark on TDP.
