The investigation into the Rs 3200 crore Andhra Pradesh liquor scam is moving quickly. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has filed a second chargesheet against former Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy. According to the SIT, Chevireddy, along with his associate Venkatesh Naidu and personal assistants Balaji and Naveen, played a key role in distributing kickback money for election funding.
Chevireddy, who is currently in judicial custody at Vijayawada Jail, complained of health problems on Tuesday. He informed the jail authorities about multiple health issues. Following this, SIT officials decided to shift him to AIIMS, Mangalagiri for medical examination and treatment.
The SIT revealed that YSRCP members allegedly earned around Rs 60 to 70 crore every month through kickbacks, with Rs 250 to 300 crore reportedly used to fund party candidates in Prakasam, Nellore, and Chittoor districts. Officials claim that Chevireddy was the main mediator in the entire operation.
Investigators said he stored a large amount of cash in Niharika Interlake Apartments and Maruti Towers in Hyderabad with the help of A1 accused Raj Kasireddy. A video has also surfaced showing his associate Venkatesh Naidu counting Rs 35 crore in a farmhouse. SIT officials confirmed they have evidence proving that the kickback money was routed to Chevireddy.
Meanwhile, Chevireddy’s gunmen, Madanreddy and Giri, accused SIT of harassment and coercion during questioning. SIT dismissed these claims as politically motivated.
