Telangana CM Revanth Reddy filed a petition in the High Court. The petition was requesting the High Court to quash a case in the People’s Representative Court in Nampally.
Last year, Revanth Reddy was campaigning for elections in Kothagudem. The meeting was held by the Congress and Revanth Reddy spoke at the event. Following this, BJP leader Kasam Venkateswarlu filed a defamation case against Revanth Reddy.
In his complaint, Kasam said Revanth Reddy spoke in a defamatory manner about BJP. The People’s Representative Court accepted the case and recorded witness’ testimonies.
If BJP comes to power again, they will do away with reservations Revanth Reddy said during his speech, Kasam complained. Kasam submitted audio and video files to the Court in the case.
Now, CM Revanth Reddy has approached the High Court asking for the case to be struck down. Reddy said that the hearing must be stopped. He asked the Court to allow him not to attend hearings.
The petition by Reddy might come for hearing on Thursday.
