Congress MLA Danam Nagender

The Government of Telangana, led by the Congress, introduced HYDRAA a couple of months ago to demolish illegal encroachments built on and around lakes.

As part of the initiative, many illegal structures built in FTL and buffer zones of lakes are being demolished by HYDRAA. Recently, the Musi River Development Board also started marking houses in the slums on the Musi River bed.

Meanwhile, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, who belongs to the Congress party, also commented against HYDRAA. He said that he had already warned officials not to target poor people’s houses and slums.

“I told them that instead of demolishing slums, the focus should be on other structures like IMAX and Jalavihar, which are in FTL and buffer zones,” said Danam.

He added that counselling should be provided to the residents of the Musi River bed. He opined that people should have been asked to vacate only after being allocated residences elsewhere. He noted that the marking of Musi residences was a hasty action.

Danam also mentioned that he had brought the matter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s attention and assured the victims that no harm would come to them.
