Cybercrimes have become prevalent in India over the last few years. The trend is on the rise in Hyderabad as well. According to the latest reports, the people of Hyderabad lost around Rs. 1866 crores in 2024.

Out of these 1866 crores, police have been able to retrieve only Rs. 176 crores, which is less than 10% of the stolen money.

Reports suggest that people lost their money in various cybercrimes, including stock scams, part-time job scams, Digital arrests, Fake customer care, and debit and credit card scams.

A total of 1.14 lakh complaints were filed across Telangana. The most number of cases were filed in Cyberabad (25,112), Hyderabad (20,299), Rachakonda (14,815), Warangal (3531) and Sanga Reddy (3132).

The state has seen an 18% rise in cybercrimes compared to last year. Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) director Shikha Goel revealed that while 16,339 FIRs were registered in 2023, the number increased to 24,643 in 2024.




It was revealed that after cracking down on various cybercriminals in the country, the state police had blocked 14,984 SIM cards, 9,811 IMEI numbers and 1,825 websites this year.
