The Election Commission of India has banned exit polls for the Jubilee Hills by-election. In a notification, GHMC Commissioner and District Election Officer Karnan stated that no one can conduct, publish, or circulate exit polls through print, electronic, or digital media.
The restriction will remain in force from 7 am on November 6 to 6.30 pm on November 11, 2025. It applies to television, radio, newspapers, social media platforms, and online channels. Any violation can lead to imprisonment of up to two years, a fine, or both under the Representation of the People’s Act, 1951.
The Act also prohibits displaying any election-related matter, including exit poll results or surveys, within 48 hours before the close of polling. This rule aims to prevent any influence on voter decisions during the election process.
Karnan has urged political parties, media organisations, digital influencers, and other stakeholders to follow the Election Commission’s guidelines strictly. He stressed that compliance is essential to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election.
