Election Commission, an autonomous body as it should be, looks like playing in to the hands of Congress party. On May 7th,Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s home constituency, Amethi went in to polls. The next day few national newspapers carried the photographs of Rahul Gandhi going in to the polling enclosure and is seen interacting with voter while casting his vote. According to the rules, except during mock polling which takes place before the start of the polling, contesting candidate is not allowed to go near the EVMs.
Based on this News report, Election Commission ordered for an inquiry. Today EC declared that Rahul Gandhi was only inspecting the faulty EVM. Except for the polling staff and the engineers monitoring EVMs nobody are allowed to go near the EVMs. EC still do not answer well why Rahul Gandhi is there in the polling enclosure. Opposition parties say EC is working for the Congress party.
