EC Sends Notice To Prashant Kishor

Jan Suraaj leader Prashant Kishor has landed in controversy after the Election Commission sent him a notice for being registered as a voter in both Bihar and West Bengal. The matter has sparked political reactions across parties.

According to PTI, Kishor’s name appears in voter lists of both states, which violates electoral law. In West Bengal, his registered address is 121, Kalighat Road the office of the Trinamool Congress, where he worked as a poll strategist in 2021.

A senior Jan Suraaj member said Kishor had enrolled in West Bengal during that time but later applied to cancel his voter ID there. However, his name still appears on both rolls, prompting the Election Commission’s action.

Reacting to the development, BJP MP Rajeev Pratap Rudy remarked, “Baap re baap.” He said politicians must stay cautious since holding two voter IDs amounts to a criminal offence. The EC is expected to seek clarification soon.

Kishor has defended himself, claiming the error lies with the Election Commission, not him. The EC has given the Jan Suraaj chief three days to explain his position before it proceeds further on the case.
