Electoral Bonds: SC Gives A Deadline To SBI

Supreme-Court

The Supreme Court of India strongly directed the State Bank of India to disclose all details of the Electoral Bonds and asked the SBI chairman to file an affidavit by March 21st, 5 pm.

Earlier, SBI revealed the details of various companies that donated funds to parties to electoral bonds. However, the information about which party got the donation from which company, hasn’t been disclosed.

The Supreme Court stated that the details given by the SBI were incomplete and ordered the bank not to suppress any details about the electoral bonds.

The court asked the bank to disclose each and every detail of the electoral bond system for the last five years.

Meanwhile, SBI’s lawyer Harish Salve stated that the data provided by the SBI didn’t link the donors with recipients because the purchase and redemption details of electoral bonds will be stored in two separate files as the bank was under the mandate to maintain anonymity.
