Farmers’ Sacrifice solved Telangana’s Power woes!

KCR Farmer Power cutTelangana state is reeling under severe power problems since the state formation due to scarcity in power production. Given the situation, people have expected too much of power cuts in Summer and were prepared for them. However surprisingly, there are no power cuts in the state even though April is underway.

More than anything else, the sacrifice of Telangana farmers is the reason for no power cuts in Summer. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao gave a call to the farmers to give up Paddy cultivation which requires more water. He said that since most of the farmers depend on Pump sets for water, government can not afford to give power to them in Summer.

Agriculture department also fully publicized against paddy cultivations. Subsequently farmers stopped Paddy cultivation. Last year in Rabi season, Paddy was cultivated in 20.46 Lakh acres, the same time this year, it is only 10.77 Lakh acres which means about 50% cultivation is stopped. Since the agriculture use has decreased, there is no power scarcity. But even now Telangana is only able to supply 6 hours power to farmers (3 hours morning and 3 hours night) and that too at irregular timings.
