Three involved in the 2003 Alipiri Bomb Attack on the then Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu were sentenced to 4 years rigorous imprisonment and 500 rupees fine. Ram Mohan Reddy, Narasimha Reddy alias Rajasekhar, M.Chandra Alias Keshavulu are the three convicts sentenced by a local court in Tirupati. On the other hand, the convicts claim that they are innocents and will appeal the judgement in High Court.
Chandrababu Naidu had a miraculous escape with minor injuries while his convoy was attacked by Maoists by planting a land mine at Alipiri when Naidu was on his way to Tirumala to present Pattu vasthrams as a part of the then Brahmotsvam festival at Tirumala on October 1st, 2003. Interestingly, Chandra Babu is now back to power and is going to submit Pattu Vastrams to the Lord tomorrow for the annual Brahmotsvam festival and it is an interesting coincidence that the judgement came a day ahead.
