Tummala Nageshwara Rao switched from TDP to TRS after 2014 and got a cabinet berth. However, he lost in 2018 election and since then, he is ignored by KCR. Moreover, he is disgruntled with KCR giving over prominence to Puvvada Ajay and MP Nama Nageshwar Rao in erstwhile Khammam district.
Reports are that Tummala is planning to change party and is considering all options – BJP, Congress, and YSR Telangana party. Tummala fought Congress all his life but Revanth Reddy’s aggressive leadership is reportedly tempting him. BJP is always an option because of power at the center.
Moreover, the Saffron party is making enough buzz in Telangana politics these days. Sharmila‘s party is also an option because Khammam is the only district where the party enjoys considerable presence. In 2014 elections, YSR Congress drew a blank in Telangana but won two MLAs and One MP in Khammam district.
So, YSR Telangana party is also fancying its chances in the district. But then, Tummala may be confined to his seat but can not have broader ambitions if he joins the party. If he joins, it will be the first big catch for YS Sharmila.
