BJP has once again stamped its authority. In the results of five states today, BJP has a clear majority in three states including the big state Uttar Pradesh and has an edge in one.
This is a bumper result even though drubbing in Punjab is disappointing. At this juncture, it is interesting to see how this victory will impact Telugu politics.
In Andhra Pradesh, BJP will depend less on YSR Congress for its use in Rajya Sabha. That may imply there will not be any unnecessary interference in Jagan’s cases and Viveka’s case. So, it will be trouble for the ruling party.
In the case of TDP, probably time for their party supporters to tone down on BJP and accept that the party will stay here just like how Chandrababu realized. State BJP will not be a threat electorally. So, Chandrababu should resist the temptation for an alliance.
Coming to Janasena, it is catch22 again. Pawan Kalyan is keen on an alliance with TDP but at the same time is not in a mood to let go of BJP. This victory will only add to the confusion.
In Telangana, KCR has been fuming on BJP for the last couple of months. There are also signs of early elections in the state. Unlike AP BJP, Telangana BJP is aggressive and is a decent winning horse. The energy of this victory can be infectious.
So, KCR will have to redraw all his plans now and tread carefully.
