A gang supplying drugs to educational institutions in and around Vijayawada has been busted. The drugs were being procured from Delhi through courier and supplied to students.
The gang was into using drugs and getting the students addicted to drugs. The police arrested 3 members of the gang and seized 33 gm of MDMAs.
One of the accused Manohar who is from Nuziveedu went to Uttar Pradesh as his maternal uncle was doing contracts there. He went to work for his uncle some years back. There, he met one Rinku from Delhi and started taking drugs.
Back from UP, Manohar started taking drugs with his childhood friend Jeevan. Later, Manohar started to courier drugs to Jeevan from Delhi and take payment through QR code.
Along with three others, Jeevan would sell drugs to students in the city. One among them Nitish was studying third year in an engineering college.
Vijayawada West police got reliable information and arrested Jeevan. The police shared that following information, they checked three vehicles and seized 33 gm of the contraband drug.
They say they found that the gang was supplying drugs to university students. Police will now check on the forward and backward linkages. The police found that the gang would chat through Whatsapp and are now trying to retrieve Whatsapp chats.
On the other hand, during the press meet, the police said the colleges must be in a position to proudly put up ‘we are a drug free and psychotropic drugs free college’, just like they put up we are an anti-ragging college.
