GHMC is planning to make Hyderabad a WiFi free city. The Corporation claims to have free Wifi hotspots in about 1000 locations in the city and is planning to extend the service to 3000 locations which will cover the entire city.

The government claims that the program is a big success but then, the ground reality is different. The service is so poor that it drew flak from the people in the initial stages and after that the service was totally stopped in several other areas.
The government announced to extend the service to 3000 locations in the next six months. BSNL with the association of Quadgen has provided the free service. They said the first 30 minutes usage will be free and later it will be chargeable. However, the users say that the free WiFi service is a total crap as the 30 minutes free time will always go waste trying to load the pages again and again due to connectivity issues.
