Telangana government is keen to get Andhra Pradesh government vacated from the current Secretariat Buildings. Telangana government had decided to construct a new secretariat at the same location demolishing the existing buildings. But some of the buildings are with Andhra Pradesh and the latter has rights on them till 10 years after the bifurcation.

But then, Andhra Pradesh had already shifted its administration to the interim secretariat in Velagapudi leaving some nominal number of employees in Hyderabad Secretariat. The state government did not even notify the shift of the secretariat as it will lose the right on the Hyderabad buildings. On the other side, Telangana CM KCR took up the issue with the Governor the other day.
He informed that Governor to force AP to hand over the buildings for the construction of new secretariat. He also went on to say that Telangana government is in favour of giving alternate accommodation to AP government in case they needed. The state government had prepared a G.O with 350 Crore Estimate for this project.
Already Famous Architect, Hafeez Contractor had proposed designs for the new secretariat and they are in public domain. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao have to give his final nod to the design. It has to be seen if Andhra Pradesh agrees to the temporary proposal or refuse to give rise to a new controversy.
