Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu has responded positively to the proposal for expanding Vijayawada Municipal Corporation. The plan aims to create the Greater Vijayawada Municipal Corporation for planned and sustainable development.
The proposal includes the merger of 74 surrounding villages into the corporation limits. Officials believe this will support long term growth and streamline urban planning. The CM is reportedly considering the project seriously with the city’s future needs in mind.
The expansion is expected to improve integrated water supply and flood management systems. It may also help resolve administrative and protocol issues created after the NTR-Krishna district division. A unified setup will make planning and execution easier.
Greater Vijayawada could also bring stronger coordination in police, transport, law and order, and airport administration. The proposal is expected to boost industrial corridors, IT Parks, logistics hubs and tourism investments. Large-scale employment opportunities are likely.
Vijayawada is seen as the financial capital of Andhra Pradesh. Its proximity to Amaravati strengthens its position as a growth hub. The Greater Vijayawada Municipal Corporation is expected to accelerate development through structured planning and better coordination with state administration.
