5000 Arrests, 2 Former CMs In Detention: Delhi Firing!

Delhi CJP protest over Gyanesh Kumar

Delhi witnessed heightened political tension as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) called for protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The planned demonstration prompted extensive security arrangements and restrictions across the national capital on October 10.

The protesters demanded Gyanesh Kumar’s immediate resignation over alleged discrepancies in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The party also raised concerns about unfair electoral practices and questioned the Election Commission’s handling of the revision process.

However, the planned protest at Jantar Mantar faced restrictions as Delhi Police moved to prevent large gatherings. Reports indicated that more than 1,500 people had been detained across the capital, although the claim of over 5,000 arrests remains unverified.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was reportedly detained by police during the developments. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was also reportedly taken into custody as authorities tightened security around the protest.

The reported detentions of political leaders and protesters drew attention to the restrictions imposed across Delhi. Security personnel were deployed at several locations as police attempted to prevent large gatherings and maintain public order during the demonstration.

Meanwhile, Cockroach Janta Party chief Abhijeet Dipke and spokesperson Sourav Das were also reportedly taken into custody ahead of the protest. Reports suggested that their whereabouts remained unclear following their detention.

These developments added to the controversy surrounding the planned demonstration. The party continued to question the restrictions on protesters while demanding action over alleged irregularities in the electoral roll revision process.

Security arrangements also affected movement across parts of Delhi. Restrictions around protest locations and the deployment of additional police personnel created difficulties for demonstrators attempting to reach the gathering points.

The national capital remained at the centre of a political confrontation as protest organisers pressed ahead with their demands. Meanwhile, security authorities continued their efforts to restrict large gatherings and maintain order across the city.
