After assuming power in Andhra Pradesh in 2019, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy completely stalled the capital region work in Amaravati.
He later came up with the three-capital plan, which made no sense and received severe backlash from people.
In the end, he neither developed Amaravati nor implemented the three capitals. This clueless rule threw Andhra Pradesh into a pitiful state.
Hope for development rose among people once again after Chandrababu Naidu came into power recently. Right after taking charge as the Chief Minister, Chandrababu promised to develop the Amaravati capital region.
Today, he presented a white paper on Amaravati and explained its current situation. He discussed with officials how Jagan Mohan Reddy ruined the capital, which was under construction.
During the meeting, he was asked if there is any legal chance to cement Amaravati as AP’s capital to prevent future Chief Ministers from changing it to some other city.
Responding to the same, Chandrababu Naidu stated that apart from a few “mental fellows” (referring to Jagan), no one in India’s history wanted to change capitals like this.
He asserted that in his 45 years of political career, he never saw a CM like Jagan who wanted to change the capital city.
He said that the government has to think now about how to save the state and capital city from such “mental fellows.” He said they would examine the matter.
Chandrababu added that what Jagan did to Amaravati is a case study not only for Andhra Pradesh but for the entire country.
