Hundreds of pathological gamblers cannot stop gambling even when it has ruined their lives. Now another incident in Hyderabad has surfaced where a man has lost over 100 crores in cricket betting.
A man who recently turned a cricket bookie was taken into custody by LB Nagar SWOT police. Given that it is IPL season, instances of illegal betting have been cropping up all over. During one such drill by the police, a man was caught who lost a whopping Rs 100 crore in cricket betting over a period of 12 years.
The man confessed to his story following his arrest. The SWOT team arrested two sub-bookies and one collection agent on Saturday. Another collection agent was taken into custody on Friday.
Meanwhile, one of the arrested poured out his story. According to police, the man identified as Ashok Reddy who is from Vanasthalipuram made good money in the real estate business. Following this, he once bet some money for fun and won Rs 1 lakh. During the initial days, he was winning and that turned his fun into addiction.
In the process, he bet on the money he made in real estate deals, money borrowed from friends and family, and lost Rs 100 crore over 12 years. In fact, the person started a company to make money, lost money, and was absconding for some time. However, his urge to make money turned him into a bookie and he was caught by the police.
