Hyd Rains: Red Alert, WFH, Holiday, Much More

Hyd RainsHyderabad is currently seeing an intense spell of torrential rain and the situation has gone from bad to worse over the last few hours. A red alert has been flagged in the city with water clogging everywhere and authorities urging people to stay indoors.

The government has announced a holiday for schools and has also instructed companies to enforce work from home in order to avoid traffic jams in these clogging conditions.

There are several videos on social media where we see flooding in most parts of the city. Several popular spots across the city are seen in clogged conditions and most commercial outlets have shut shop today.

Some parts of the city saw 14 MM rain in the last 24 hours and this torrential downfall has triggered panic amongst the public. Public transportation is not in operation now, in view of public safety.

The authorities have stated that the city will see extended spells of intense rains through the course of the day today – Tuesday with varying intensities. The public is advised not to step out unless absolutely necessary.

All six zones in the GHMC combined have seen a rainfall of 105 MM which is the highest 24-hour tally the city has seen this year.
