I Will Contest From Gannavaram: Yarlagadda

Yarlagadda-Venkat-Rao-GannavaramNRI turned politician Yarlagadda Venkata Rao has once again made headlines as he announced his intention to contest in the upcoming elections from the Gannavaram constituency. Yarlagadda had previously lost the election to Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who was then a TDP candidate, in the 2019 elections when YSRCP suffered a defeat in Gannavaram.

After the 2019 elections, Vamsi joined YSRCP, which led to internal divisions within the party in Gannavaram. YSRCP leaders Dutta Ramachandra Rao and Yarlagadda Venkata Rao, who were already in YSRCP party, were not happy with Vamsi’s entry.

Recently, YS Jagan held a meeting with the three leaders to resolve the issue and confirmed that Vamsi would again contest as a YSRCP candidate in the 2024 general elections. However, this decision was not well-received by Dutta and Yarlagadda in YSRCP. Despite efforts by Sajjala, a senior leader in YSRCP, to bring the three leaders together, no resolution was reached.

Yarlagadda has maintained silence for the past two years, but he made a significant announcement today, stating that he will contest from Gannavaram in the upcoming elections. However, he did not mention which party he would contest from when questioned by the press.

It is rumored that Yarlagadda is in touch with TDP leaders, including Lokesh, and there are speculations that he might join TDP later in August. Meanwhile, TDP has not yet finalized its candidate for the Gannavaram constituency after Vamsi’s exit. The political situation in Gannavaram remains tense and uncertain as the different factions jostle for control in the upcoming elections.
