One of the biggest shocks pertaining to the coming season of IPL came when Mumbai Indians announced that Rohit Sharma is being replaced by Hardik Pandya as the captain of the side. This has led to questions if Rohit would move to another franchise instead of playing under Hardik.
Incidentally, former Mumbai player Hardik Pandya has reacted on the matter and said perhaps it is time for Rohit to switch sides by leaving Mumbai Indians.
“Rohit still has 5-6 years of cricket left in him. He should leave Mumbai and join a new side maybe. Perhaps Chennai would be a great suit for him. He can even captain the side if prompted. He has the caliber to captain and lead any side in the IPL. Personally, I want to see him captaining CSK” Rayudu said.
Rayudu’s comment on Rohit moving to CSK has caught the attention now. Amidst the existing commotion that Rohit must leave the gratitude-less Mumbai side for stripping him off captaincy, this move to prompt him to join CSK is to be noted.
Mumbai and Chennai are two arch-rival sides and moreover, the trading season for this year’s IPL is done and dusted. Perhaps the door is open for Rohit to switch sides ahead of the 2025 IPL. If he does indeed move to Chennai, this will be the biggest switch in the history of IPL.
