YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has postponed his London trip after the High Court postponed the hearing of his petition regarding the issuance of a passport.
According to recent reports, Jagan flew back to Bengaluru after the court’s decision. Reportedly, his team ensured no photos were taken of him while at the airport.
After losing the Chief Minister’s position, Jagan’s diplomatic passport was cancelled. Thus, he had to apply for a regular passport.
The CBI Court in Hyderabad approved the issuance of a general passport with a five-year validity for Jagan. However, the Vijayawada court ordered a passport with only a one-year validity.
Challenging this order, Jagan filed a lunch-motion petition in the High Court, requesting the issuance of the passport with a five-year validity.
Upon reviewing the petition, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh postponed the hearing to Monday. Thus, Jagan had no choice but to push his London trip.
Meanwhile, social media users are criticizing Jagan for leaving the state during a time of crisis, as Vijayawada has been severely affected by recent floods.
