YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who confined himself behind barricades and green mats for the last five years is finally coming into the people in the name of elections. He is begining his election campaign in the name of ‘Memantha Siddham’.
He started his Bus Yatra by visiting his father’s ghat in Pulivendula and will address first election meeting later this evening in Proddutur. But then, Proddutur is turning to be a bad place to start the campaign for Jagan.
YSR Congress is on a slippery ground in the constituency.
Proddaturu in Kadapa Lok Sabha segment is a Reddy Bastion. TDP managed to win the seat for the last time in 2009. In two consecutive elections later, YSR Congress won the seat comfortably.
Rachamallu Siva Prasad Reddy won both times and with a record 45K votes majority in the 2019 election. There is a huge anti-incumbency against Rachamallu in the people as well as the cadre. Rachamallu and his brother-in-law took people for granted and as a result, even the cadre stood away.
Yadav community is also snubbed and MLC Ramesh Yadav is leading a group that announced non co-operation to Rachamallu.
A Reddy faction led by Konireddy Siva Chandra Reddy and some councillors are also not co-operating with Rachamallu.
Meanwhile, TDP made a good move here by making Varadarajulu Reddy as the candidate. All the groups in TDP are working together to defeat Rachamallu.
From the last few days, there is a huge exodus of cadre and local leaders of YSR Congress into the TDP.
Proddaturu is a bad choice for Jagan to start his campaign.
