We have two notable Telugu films arriving at the ticket counters this weekend, and they happen to be Adarsa Kutumbam and Cult. While the farmer features veteran Venkatesh in the lead role, the latter has youngster Vishwak Sen.
However, the strange and sad thing here is that this weekend could be very problematic one for the Telugu box office. There are external factors contributing to this scenario and let us have a look into the same.
Firstly, we have the impending cyclone Arnab, which is threatening to be one of the worst natural disasters to have hit the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh in recent times.
This cyclone is threatening extensive damage to public property and possible human loss as well, considering the extremely violent nature of the cyclone that it’s building up to. It is expected to make landfall shortly and the effects will follow correspondingly.
Then we have the ongoing local body election fever with the rural pockets and town population almost extensively focussed on the same. The public is occupied with the political tension as the local body elections took violent turns in most parts of the state.
Subsequently, we have far too much happening that has already occupied the attention of the public, so there is not enough vacuum for the mentioned two films to penetrate into the common public.
But at the end of the day, the Telugu audience have always been receptive of quality films and this must be the hope for either of the films. Only time will tell if they would be able to overcome the mentioned hurdles and stand strong at the ticket counters.
