Ahead of the general elections, various allegations of corruption have been made against the YCP government in Andhra Pradesh.
In the latest development, it is being alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government looted approximately Rs. 500 crores from the General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts belonging to government employees.
“Whenever employees fight for their rights and raise their voices against the government, cases are filed against them. They were terrified by this dictatorship,” stated Suryanarayana.
He stated that the government took 500 crores from GPF accounts without their permission, making it a theft.
“Even the union finance minister confirmed it and directed the financial department to conduct an inquiry. The state finance department officials termed it as a technical glitch. Till now, we haven’t got our money back. When we ask our money back, they filed cases against them,” he added.
He accused the YCP government of harassing the government employees. He added that when the employees wanted to stage a protest using black ribbons, the government filed bindover cases against them. He said that he hadn’t seen such an anarchic government in his life.
Suryanarayana also revealed discrepancies concerning the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). He said while the central government increased its contribution to the scheme from 10% to 14%, the state government didn’t follow the rule. As a result, employees are experiencing financial losses of 4%.
He stated that the government still doesn’t say how much dues it has to pay for the government employees. There has been no use even after filing the RTI petition. However, a minister has apparently unofficially said there might be around Rs. 20000 dues.
Suryanarayana claims that even meeting with leaders of opposition parties is being treated as a crime by the YCP government.
Additionally, he alleges that the government has made new regulations stating that wage amendment dues will only be disbursed after retirement, further troubling the government employees.
