It has been more than decade since the CBI and the enforcement directorate have failed, disproportionate assets cases against Jaganmohan Reddy. There was progress in the early stages, and Jagan was arrested as well.
But things have slowed down considerably in the recent past, and there has been little no progress for a while. Now things are starting to change as certain progress is being registered with regard to this case.
The latest updates are suggesting that the CBI court in Nampalli has agreed to hear this disproportionate assets cases against Jagan on a daily basis from now on. The daily hearing could be starting as early as next week.
But the real question is whether Jagan would be mandate to physically attend the hearing every single day. Previously, he was able to evade this by showing his CM position and related duties to skip physical investigation.
There were a couple of occasions when Jagan tried to attend virtually as well. But this is not demanding enough for the judicial system and the nature of the cases.
Now that the CBI court has agreed to hear these cases on a daily basis, we shall see if Jagan will be prompted to appear for hearing on a daily basis. This must be a tough proposition for him as he will have to move from Bengaluru to Hyderabad if the court orders him to attend daily.
Nothing is confirmed for now, and we have to patiently wait and see where this legal precedent would lead to.
