24 silver coins dating back to 1921 AD during the Nizam’s era were unearthed by the residents of Chandupatla village, of Bhongir mandal in Nalgonda. The coins belonging to the time of the sixth Nizam, Mir Mahbub Ali Khan (11 coins), and the era of the seventh Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan (13 coins) were discovered in the demolition of an old house constructed some 70 years ago.
The house belonged to Maya Swamy, a resident of the same village and he sold it to Kurma Sangham a couple of years ago.The archaeological department officials have taken those coins in to custody and handed over those coins to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at the Secretariat on Wednesday. The Chief Minister has directed the officials to preserve the coins weighing 266 gram in the Archaeology Department’s treasury.
