Tirumala laddoo which is considered to be the most venerated prasadam among the devotees was found to be made with adulterated ghee during YSRCP’s term. It was found that the contracts were given to new entities who added animal fat to the ghee used in the laddoos.

The adulteration led to the staunch devotees questioning the sanctity of quality checks at the temple. Strict action was demanded to make sure such acts are not repeated in future.

The alliance government took up the matter immediately after coming to power and constituted a CBI-led SIT. Four individuals were arrested following Supreme Court-appointed SIT investigation in the matter. The accused headed Bhole Baba Dairy, Vaishnavi Dairy and AR Dairy, that supplied the adulterated ghee.
