A few days ago, APCID had called for a Pressmeet and warned of strict action against those who post objectionable, disgraceful, and indecent remarks on social media platforms especially targeting the chief minister and his family members as well as others in public life.
“We will set up monitoring cells and a regulating mechanism,” the CID announced.
It is certainly a good step to cleanse the social media. People are hiding besides the masks of secrecy. But then, what about the indecency in political comments especially to that of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy?
Today speaking at a public meeting in Uddhanam, Jagan Mohan Reddy used language not suiting the office he holds.
He made personal remarks on Pawan Kalyan calling him ‘Package Star’ and ‘Family Star’.
Jagan Mohan Reddy made many political comments but those are okay. But this name-calling is something that does not suit the stature of the office he holds.
Mocking Pawan Kalyan in the name of marriage is nothing but intruding into the private space of the women who divorced and are leading separate lives. But as always, the Chief Minister cares a damn. And sadly this is not the first time and will not be the last time.
While there are agencies to protect the Chief Minister and his family from social media trolls, who would protect others from the Chief Minister and his party with the kind of language they use?
A Chief Minister should be a role model and others should emulate the culture he showcases. But in Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Minister himself is the biggest of trolls.
