All hopes of Telangana Congress leaders went in vain as no one from the Gandhi family decided to contest from the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Earlier, various Congress leaders including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy requested Sonia Gandhi to contest from Telangana. However, she opted for the Rajya Sabha seat from Rajasthan.
Later, it was reported that Rahul Gandhi would contest from Telangana, either from Nalgonda, Bhongir or Khamma constituencies. However, that didn’t happen as well.
Meanwhile, it was officially announced today that Rahul Gandhi will contest from Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi constituency and Kerala’s Wayanad constituency in the polls. Last time, he won the Wayanad seat and lost in Amethi.
On the other side, Priyanka Gandhi will contest from Raebareli, which was earlier represented by her mother Sonia.
To sum it up, the Gandhis didn’t show any interest in contesting from Telangana despite strong efforts from local leaders.
