Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Ongole TDP MP, plans to retire from politics. He recently shared this decision after discussing it with CM Chandrababu Naidu. Magunta will soon hand over the political baton to his son, Raghav Reddy, who will contest the next elections.
Magunta began his career with the Congress party and won the Ongole MP seat in 1998, 2004, and 2009. He lost the 2014 election contesting as a TDP candidate. Later, he won as YSRCP MP in 2019 and again as TDP MP in 2024.
His son, Magunta Raghav Reddy, entered controversy when arrested in the Delhi excise policy case in February 2023. He secured bail in October 2023 after turning approver. The Magunta family owns Balaji Distilleries and two other companies, with a legacy in the liquor business for over 70 years.
