YSR Congress party received a severe setback in Nellore district after Nellore City mayor, YSR Congress leader, Abdul Aziz announced that he will be joining the ruling Telugu Desam Party very soon. Aziz announced that the development of Nellore City will be possible only with the ruling TDP Party. He admitted that there are no good terms between him and YSR Congress MLAs of the district and it is the reason for his decision.
He also added that he will very soon meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu and join TDP. Nellore is one of the strong holds of YSR Congress and in the recent elections, the party has won 7 MLAs and 1 MP seat in the district. Aziz shifting his loyalty can be termed as one more blow to YSR Congress which is already reeling under the pressure of heavy defeat in the recent Assembly elections.
