The Election Commission yesterday directed the government not to release funds for the schemes given the Election Code being in force.
Schemes like Vidya Deevena and Input Subsidy were stopped. Jagan Mohan Reddy who hoped to win votes by releasing funds just before the elections was shell-shocked. We saw him talk helplessly at Machilipatnam the other day.
Speaking at a Public rally in Machilipatnam, he said, “I am worried if the elections will happen free and fair. They are stopping money. They are changing officials at their whims and fancies. All this is to just stop me”.
Today YSR Congress made a few beneficiaries of the schemes file a Lunch Motion Petition in the High Court for immediate release of funds.

“It looks like YSR Congress is determined to shame Andhra Pradesh before stepping down,” TDP is criticizing.
Jagan pressed buttons for Fees Reimbursement on March 1st and Input Subsidy on March 6th. The Government had time till the release of the schedule (March 16th) to release funds.
Even one and a half months after the schedule, the YSR Congress did not seek permission.
However, they did not release to influence voters by releasing funds just before the polling.
They asked the permission at the last minute revealing the intention.
So, the EC blocked it.
The Court should stop these attempts. In case, the beneficiaries are affected the funds can be released after polling. They can definitely wait for one week.
